Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome to the International Measurement Community to be in Brazil in 2006.

It is a privilege and also a great opportunity for IMEKO to organize its 18th World Congress in Rio de Janeiro in 2006.

This is the first time we are bringing an IMEKO World Congress to Latin America, offering a meeting for instrument manufacturers, users, metrology professionals from different areas, scientists, researchers and university professors teaching measurement science and technology, coming from over 50 countries of the five continents. This is a unique chance for Latin America to demonstrate its relevant knowledge and to make closer links to the worldwide measurement community.

At the same time, it is also a chance for all foreigners to get acquainted with one of the most beautiful cities of the World. I wish a great success to the Brazilian Society of Metrology in the organization of the World Congress.
